Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
It seems as though the more modern approach to church functioning is to meet fewer times in a week than perhaps previous generations did. There are many reasons given for that; we need time for family, we are busier than previous generations, etc. This passage from Hebrews makes the point that as we see the Day approaching, that is the day of Christ, we should get together more, not less.
Of the New Testament church it is written, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."
No matter the scheduling of any particular church, an individual Christian should ask himself the following questions: 1) Am I in a teaching opportunity regularly where I learn the teaching of the Word of God? 2) Am I regularly fellowshipping with other believers in a meaningful way? 3) Do I make sure I make a priority out of being in attendance when the Lord's Supper is observed? 4) Am I regularly meeting with other believers for a time of prayer?
Faithful Men is a blog to encourage Christian men to be faithful to their commitments to Christ, His church and their families. Welcome to any who share that goal. "And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." 2 Timothy 2:2
